1. Communicate With Your Photographer

Before your session, have an open conversation with your photographer. Share your goals, preferences, and any insecurities you may have. Discuss poses, wardrobe and styles you love. A good photographer will create a safe space and help you feel comfortable while bringing your collaborative vision to life.

2. Pamper Yourself in Advance

Treat your boudoir session like a special occasion—it’s your time to shine! In the days leading up to your shoot:

  • Get a manicure and pedicure.

  • Avoid a fresh haircut, but feel free to do your colour touch-up. or refresh your current style.

  • Avoid trying new skincare products to prevent unexpected reactions.

  • These small touches can boost your confidence and add polish to your final look.

3. Choose Outfits That Make You Feel Confident

Select lingerie or outfits that flatter your body and make you feel amazing. Don’t feel pressured to conform to trends—wear what resonates with you. Some options to consider:

  • Classic lingerie sets (lace, silk, or mesh).

  • Oversized sweaters for a cozy vibe.

  • Bodysuits for a sleek silhouette.

  • Nothing but a sheet or your partner’s favourite shirt for a romantic twist.

Pro Tip: Bring a few different options to the shoot to play around with styles and colours. Don’t forget we also have a Client Closet in-studio!

4. Practice Poses in the Mirror

While your photographer will guide you through poses, a little practice can help ease nerves. Stand in front of a mirror and explore angles, facial expressions, and body positions that feel natural. This also helps you discover your “best side” and build confidence.

5. Hydrate and Rest

Drink plenty of water in the days before your shoot to keep your skin looking radiant. Prioritize sleep to ensure you feel refreshed and vibrant. Trust me, a well-rested glow will shine through in your photos.

6. Skip Tanning and Waxing Right Before

Avoid spray tans or tanning beds for at least a week before your session to prevent orange tones or uneven skin. If you’re waxing, schedule it several days in advance to allow redness or sensitivity to fade.

7. Go Light on the Makeup

In fact… Most of our sessions include professional make-up and lash application, so please come with clean skin. Alternatively, if you’re applying your own, please stick to makeup that enhances your natural beauty. A classic look with defined eyes, groomed brows, and a soft lip colour is timeless. Avoid heavy foundation that might cake under studio lighting. If you’re looking for extreme make-up, please have it professionally applied.

8. Wear Loose Clothing to Your Appointment

On the day of your shoot, wear loose-fitting clothing to avoid marks on your skin. Say goodbye to tight bras, socks or waistbands for a few hours before your session. You want your skin to look smooth and flawless!

9. Bring Personal Props

Consider incorporating personal touches that add meaning to your photos. This could be jewelry, a favourite book, or even items that belong to your partner (a tie, jacket, or their favourite hat). These details create unique, memorable shots.

10. Embrace the Experience and Have Fun

Most importantly, let go of perfectionism and allow yourself to feel confident, sexy and free. Boudoir photography is about celebrating YOU —Your strength, beauty, and individuality. Trust Nicole, your photographer, relax into the process, and enjoy every moment of this fun-filled and empowering experience.
